ChrysantheMoms began with one mom’s vision to make life a little easier for other moms walking a similar path. Heidi , a single mother of four and a woman in long-term recovery, saw a gap in support for mothers in Harford County trying to balance sobriety, parenting, work, and everyday life. What started as an idea for support groups and occasional outings to celebrate moms' hard work quickly grew into something much bigger. After hearing from an overwhelming number of women—many of whom had been separated from their children due to addiction—it became clear there was a critical and unmet need for mommy-and-me recovery housing. Mothers were desperate for a place where they could recover while reconnecting with and caring for their children. In response, a house was purchased and transformed into The Lily House, which officially opened in April 2024. The Lily House is more than just a safe place—it's a home centered on healing, rebuilding, and reunification. With the support of the community, other recovery-based nonprofits, recovery housing providers, and a strong network of dedicated women, ChrysantheMoms has blossomed into something Heidi never imagined. What began as a small support group has become a growing organization focused on helping mothers in recovery rebuild their lives and reunite with their children. Heidi brings both lived experience and professional expertise to this work. With a background in early childhood education, she spent six years teaching in Baltimore City before working for seven years at a nonprofit, eventually stepping into a director role. Today, she also serves as the Family Recovery Court Coordinator—another service now offered through ChrysantheMoms—strengthening the mission to walk alongside mothers as they heal, grow, and reclaim their roles as parents. At its core, ChrysantheMoms is about one powerful goal: to help women in recovery reunite with their children and build strong, stable, love-filled futures—together.
The name ChrysantheMoms reflects the strength, growth, and resilience of the women it serves. Just like the chrysanthemum—a flower known for blooming even in the harshest seasons—these mothers continue to rise, heal, and grow through life’s most difficult challenges.
The chrysanthemum symbolizes endurance and quiet strength, qualities that mirror the journey of recovery and motherhood. With every meeting, every story, and every step forward, the roots of this mission grow deeper.
Built by and for mothers in recovery, ChrysantheMoms was cultivated from heartfelt conversations, community support, and the unwavering belief that recovery doesn’t have to mean separation from your children—it can be the path that brings families back together.
From the beginning, ChrysantheMoms has been about growth—starting small, planting seeds of support and hope, and trusting that with the right care, something beautiful could bloom.
The mission was never just about recovery—it was about rebuilding families, restoring dignity, and helping women rediscover their purpose. Today, ChrysantheMoms stands as a reflection of what’s possible when mothers are nurtured, believed in, and given the space to thrive.
We are still growing. Still blooming. And still cultivating a future where recovery and motherhood walk hand in hand.
